So you're new to SL...

My, that is unfortunate...


And you're looking at your avatar like, "lolwut?" So did I when I first started out. You don't have any L$ either, huh?

Well, boo-boo, I got you.

Here's some great free items for your new avatar that I think you might like. :) [Also: if you got pinned with a mesh avatar, try the classic avatars. They are more customizable, and until SL makes better-looking starter meshes, the classic avatars look better, especially after you work your magic on it, which I'm going to show you how to do.]

I'm going to only show you the female items, because I have more experience with that than with the male items.

Decorating Your First Home in Second Life

This is my SL home. :)


When you first go premium in Second Life, you are given a choice of free apartments. Whichever one you choose, I'm going to show you how you can decorate it and stay within the 117-prim capacity. I wish I had paid more attention to the prim-count when I first started out in my Linden home. I got a great bed, a great couch, a nice fountain, a grand piano, and a statue, and that was it. I couldn't put anything else on my land without paying a fee, which sucked because I wanted to put my lava lamp by my bed.
So when buying your furniture, at least until you are willing to pay more to get more, aim for low-prim and mesh items. I looooove mesh because it generally has more detail than the low-prim items. But here are some great free and inexpensive finds on the SL Marketplace that are low-prim/low-impact so you can get more bang for your buck and your prim, so to speak. :)
